Lives Saved

By 2020 Electronic Stability Control ESC could reduce european fatalities by 16.6% if fitted to all cars. ESC is likely to save 14% lives when fitted to 84% cars. 1% is 230 lives saved a year. ref: eImpact 6/08

1) Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - Top Life Saver! Prevents Skids

by braking wheels individually ESC reduces risk of car skids & rollovers during emergency manoeuvres. If fitted to all cars in Europe ESC would reduce death on roads by 16.6% - that's 4500 lives saved each year. Click picture for ESC video.

2) Lane Keeping Support (LKS) - Warns about lane drifting

with stearing wheel vibration & audible warning (Lane Departure Warning LDW) followed by active steering (Lane Departure Prevention LDP) when car drift into the wrong lane. If fitted to all European cars, LKS could save 3450 (15%) lives each year. Click picture for video.

3) SpeedAlert (SPE) - Always Know the speed limit

using digital cameras recognises round speed limit signs and alerts you. Pedestrians hit at 30mph have 80% chance of surviving, at 35mph 50%, at 40mph 10%. SPE is likely to save over 1000 lives each year by 2020. Click picture for video.

3a) Speed Limitation Assistance (SLA) - maintains car speed below the speed limit

Use with SpeedAlert SPE. No more speeding tickets! Pedestrians hit at 30mph have 80% chance of surviving, at 35mph 50%, at 40mph 10%. You set the max. speed your car can travel. 4) Emergency Braking (EBR) - avoid crashing into vehicle in front

in car radar warns of danger of crashing with the vehicle in front and can automatically activate the brakes. If installed in all cars in Europe, 1400 lives would be saved each year. Click picture for video.

4a) Brake Assist (BAS) - powerful braking

5) eCall (ECA) - dials 999 in a crash

automatically makes an emergency call when an accident occurs.

6) Driver Drowsiness Monitoring (DDM) - Keep Awake!

7) Wireless Local Danger Warning (WLD) - vehicles exchange safety info

Euro NCAP

Euro NCAP Safety Assist

Rewards manufacturers for fitment of electronic stability control (3/7 points, 43%), Speed limitation device (1/7, 14%) and seat belt reminders (3/7, 43%).

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC prevents car skids. Cars with ESC are involved in fewer accidents, and less serious ones, than cars without. By 2012, Euro NCAP will assess and reward ONLY cars which are fitted with ESC as standard across the whole of the model range.

Speed Limitation Assistance (SLA) - maintains car speed below the speed limit

Seat Belt Reminders

Many people continue to drive without wearing their seatbelts, and such people are vastly over-represented in statistics of severe and fatal injuries. Many of those who do not routinely wear their seatbelts would do so if prompted by a seatbelt reminder (SBR)
